Truth Spring
Trade School
Overview
Truth Spring Trade School serves to assist our neighbors who are seeking to enter or re-enter the workforce. Truth Spring Trade School is a 10 month, “paid-to-learn” program. The objective of the Truth Spring Trade School is to give every resident in the North Highland community the opportunity to engage in productive, meaningful work as they rebuild their own community with their own hands (Isaiah 61:4). For the first 8 weeks, trade school students will be in a classroom environment learning the fundamentals of work using the Jobs for Life curriculum.
During the first 8 weeks, Columbus Technical College will be offering on-site GED preparatory classes along with various other workforce certifications to all of our students.
Upon successful completion of the Jobs for Life curriculum, students will then have the opportunity to be hired to work for Truth Spring as a full-time trade student. Students will have the option of learning/working in the following trades: 1) construction/demolition, 2) culinary arts and 3) urban farming. Students will then use their trade skill training to both work and rebuild the North Highland community.
